Bought this little bag on a whim to hold all the little things I was buying in the mercado. Everyone knows you need two hands to shop!  I thought I would give it away to one of my daughters teenage friends when I returned to the US. Turns out I can't part with it.

Beautiful paper-encased votive candles.  

These hand-made devotionary religious candles predate paraffin wax candles and contain tallow (animal fat) and a very soft grade of wax or parafin. 

The paper is printed with a Catholic devotionary image and burn for a long, long, long time.  

Not quite eternity but you get the picture.
